Our Materials
As a fine jeweller, we work with a diverse range of gemstones - diamonds are just one of many stunning options. We also love creating with emeralds, sapphires, spinels, zircons (not to be confused with cubic zirconia), and more.
At the heart of our practice is intentionality. Every piece is made to order, never mass-produced. This allows us to purposefully source each gemstone for the individual client - hand-selecting beautiful stones that align with your design, values, and vision.

Our Gold
Gold is a natural resource with a rare and remarkable quality - it can be endlessly recycled without losing its value. We responsibly source our gold through Australian refineries that recycle jewellers’ scrap, as well as accredited bullion dealers in Australia and Europe, many of whom work with locally mined and processed metals.
All of our scrap is recycled and repurposed, eliminating excess waste.

Natural diamonds
Natural diamonds are also a mined natural resource and 99% of the current natural diamond global supply chain is conflict-free. We work directly with Australian-based suppliers to source high-quality natural diamonds through the Kimberley Process. It is not an industry standard for either natural or lab-grown diamonds to come with origin reports, however we are pleased to work directly with suppliers to hand-select natural diamonds with known origins for clients if they prioritise this. Further information is provided below on origin-based diamonds, and there are significant changes in the industry signalling exciting new technology to enable jewellers to trace diamonds back to the mine they originated from in the near future.

Australian natural diamonds
Mined under strict Australian regulations, these natural diamonds are a testament to responsible sourcing and strict environmental processes, ensuring a positive impact on local communities.
Diamonds from the Argyle Mine, located in Western Australia, are renowned for their unique pink, red, and champagne hues, making them highly sought after in the jewellery world. Known for their exceptional quality, these diamonds were sourced from one of the world’s most famous and productive diamond mines until its closure in 2020. As the mine undergoes rehabilitation, the legacy of Argyle diamonds lives on, prized not only for their beauty but also for their ethical origin.
Ellendale diamonds are sourced from the Ellendale Diamond Field in Western Australia’s West Kimberley region. This area is renowned for producing high-quality fancy yellow diamonds, with some of the world's finest stones originating here. The mine operated from 2002 until its closure in 2015. Since then, the site has been rehabilitated, and mining operations have not resumed.
The rarity and unique beauty of Argyle and Ellendale diamonds continue to make them a cherished option for those seeking a meaningful and responsibly sourced diamond.

Canadian natural diamonds
Canadian diamonds are mined in the remote northern regions of Canada, known for their exceptional quality, traceability, and ethical sourcing. Extracted under some of the world’s strictest environmental and labor standards, these diamonds are conflict-free and fully traceable from mine to market - making them a responsible and transparent choice for fine jewellery.

Lab-grown diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds are produced in manufacturing settings, widely known in the industry as ‘laboratories’. A lab-grown diamond is not a fake diamond, and is the same concept of a synthetic sapphire versus a natural sapphire, offering the same appearance but at a lower price point.
CVD Diamonds (Chemical Vapor Deposition):
CVD diamonds are created by placing a diamond seed in a sealed chamber filled with carbon-rich gases (like methane or hydrogen gas) at low pressure. When heated, the gases break down and carbon atoms bond to the seed, growing layer by layer into a diamond rough.
HPHT Diamonds (High Pressure High Temperature):
HPHT diamonds are made by mimicking the Earth’s natural conditions - applying extreme pressure and heat to a carbon source (like graphite) in the presence of a metal catalyst (such as iron, cobalt or nickel).

Other gemstones
Just as we thoughtfully source our diamonds, we work closely with Australian-based suppliers to hand-select exceptional natural gemstones. From locally mined Australian sapphires and zircons to artisanally sourced stones from Madagascar and Sri Lanka, each gem supports small-scale miners and their communities. These locally and ethically sourced stones are a meaningful choice - offering traceability, a lighter environmental footprint, and a positive impact on people rather than corporations.
